Family Frustrations

Hey, everybody,

I'm feeling much better today. It took a while, but I think it was mainly a week bug that got into my system. It went through phases of coughing, sniffling, and sneezing with light headedness throughout. Now I'm left with some plugging in my ears, but at least the sinus pressure is gone! Hooray!

Anyway, my dad was in town for the last couple of days. Tonight we went out for dinner which was pretty amazing. But having my dad here just kind of brought up some of the things that make me sad and, I suppose, upset about my family relationships.

My family loves each other, of course we do, but there's always drama. Constant, consistent drama. A lot of the time I don't need to be in the middle of it, but occasionally I am. I don't want to go into detail for the whole world to read, but basically my dad and my mom don't have the best relationship and I was often in the middle of it. I understand (having experience myself) that when you don't like a certain person it's a little difficult to keep those feelings to yourself, especially from another individual who is around that person all the time and should see those "flaws". Problem is, I don't care who's flawed where. I love them equally. I don't want to hear it.

I'm going to stop myself from continuing on this road. It's a long and dreary one that I rarely express. Frustration and bottled up feelings make me want to spurt everything out, but that is especially not appropriate for the internet, so I will keep it to myself. Those of you that know me personally are more than welcome (if you want) to ask me about it. But, internet, I will leave you hanging.

There is so much I want to write about right now - thoughts are racing through my brain - but I think I will save them for another time. It's late and I feel I have expressed more than I needed to on a subject for one night.

As one of my professors says, "Peace",

Sick. Ick.

Hey everyone.

I got sick.

Ick.

I just wanted to give a quick update. I'm astounded that I'm ready for bed at 10:52 p.m.! I'm not passing up the opportunity to go to bed early. No way! The past few days have been late nighters followed by sickness followed by late nighters followed by homework... It's been a little rough. I'm just glad that I get to sleep.

On another quick note, it is my roommate's birthday today! We had a lovely dinner at Olive Garden and came home to fudge marble cake (my other roommate and I made a box recipe). Now I feel sick and fat. Yay. Haha.

Tomorrow I get to see my dad so I need to feel better. Come on immune system! Kick it into high gear! I can't get him sick, too! I think I've already infected one of my roommates (sorry!).

Well, have a healthy Thursday! I will eventually write you more often, just not right now.

Your sneezing, coughing, nose running, head aching friend,

Rountinely Routine

Well friends, I have been a poop about updating this. I know, I know! I bet you're all thinking, "What in the world? Does she just not care?" I do care! I just haven't been feeling up to posting/have been sinking back into the bad habit of falling asleep before posting.

So! I think I will start a new routine. I really like blogging in the morning. I'm refreshed and ready for the world! It takes me away from feeling tired, having no clue what in the world I'm going to write about, and babbling. Maybe you like my babbling, I don't know. Anyways, I think this all revolves around routines.

I haven't really set myself up for a good routine this semester - most likely from lack of routine work the past few years. I'm very much a procrastinator and a perfectionist, as I believe I have said before. Therefore, I wait until the very last minute to get things done, will spaz out over them, turn them in, feel relieved, and do the process all over again for the next class. I'm realizing that it probably isn't good for my health or for life in general, so here is my proposal:

Get into a routine!

Not just any routine, a nice one where I am able to set up times to do homework, eat, do laundry, grocery shop, and work out. Gasp! Working out?! What's that? I've only been to the gym once this semester and it's a shame. We have a wonderful facility so I should take advantage of it! I also remember back when I was in high school that it felt natural and good to build a sweat.

If I can get into a routine for getting homework done in advance (or at least more than 6 hours before it's due) then I would like to get up early and go to the gym. The gym opens at 5 a.m., I think, and you don't have to pay the meters until 8 a.m., so I could go there from 7-8 a.m., come home, take a shower, and be ready for the day around 9-9:30 a.m. Not bad - especially since I don't typically have class until 10:30 a.m. That gives me around 45 minutes to get anything done that needs to be done.

I always have these grand ideas and never follow through. This one, though, I really should do. Not just for health of mind, but for my future life. I can't keep leaving things until the last moment. Not with the profession I'm planning to go into! Well, I suppose not with any profession. So, I will try do this!

Wish me luck and have a wonderful Monday!

Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

Well, hello there! It's a BEAUTIFUL morning today. Almost all of the snow has melted because...

IT'S 35 DEGREES!

That may sound kind of lame to people in California or Florida, but the typical weather for where I am in February is C-O-L-D. Yesterday was so incredibly fantastic! It got up to 60 degrees!!! The morning did look very promising for lovely weather - it was cloudy and muggy - so I wore my rainy day outfit. Yes, I have a rainy day outfit. I don't really know why, but I just always go for the same outfit when it's dreary outside - a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and my cute feather headband. And I was super excited to get a chance to rock my new rain boots - they're fantastically 60's inspired (in my opinion). Well, by the time I got out of my second class I felt like a loser! There was a guy in front of me wearing shorts and a T-shirt! I don't think I would have gone that far, but, man, did I feel overdressed! (Which is something I almost always do - prepare for what I think the day is going to be like and regret my decision later.) By the time my last class was over the clouds had parted and the sun was shining! I drove to my apartment with my windows down singing along to my Loin King tape. So. much. fun! When I got home, I threw open a window and swapped my long-sleeved shirt for a short-sleeved one. By the time my roommates came home I had sucked up so much vitamin D that I was literally loopy. I started busting out songs and jamming to ones I played on my computer. I think I scared the begeezes out of them when they walked through our front door and I screamed, "IT'S SO NICE OUTSIDE!"

The one thing I wanted to do, but didn't get a chance to do, was take a walk or ride my bike. That would have completed my warm, February day. Unfortunately, it's only supposed to get up to 49 degrees today. But if the sun is shining and there's little to no wind it may feel warmer. If it does, I am so taking a walk/riding my bike.

A quick note: I now have a reason to get up early and start my day. Rugrats comes on every morning at 7:30 a.m.! If I get up around 7-7:15 I can make myself breakfast, eat, and check my e-mail while it's on. Perfect!

Today will be a glorious day! I am for sure dressing for the weather - possibly short sleeves and a light jacket! I also have this formal thing going on tonight for an organization I participate in. (I'm starting to get kind of annoyed at just naming all of the things I do as organizations. Should I just come out and say what in the world I'm involved in?) I get to wear a fancy dress and, get this, eat at the mashed potato martini bar! AH! I'm so excited to get mashed russet or sweet potatoes in a martini glass! I'm not quite sure what the appeal is, but I am not passing it up! After the formal I think my roommate and I will be seeing a standup comedy show! I've never been to one, so this should be pretty sweet.

I am so glad this week is coming to an end! I know there's a lot to do for next week, but my mom may come down for the weekend so I don't have to pay for laundry! YAY! Hahaha! I'm just joking. I'll be super excited to see my mom since I haven't seen her for about 5 weeks. Oh! And I just realized my dad will be here next weekend! Gah! So much family time! This just means I have to get all my stuff together so I can spend time with them. Let's do it!

Have a fantastic, warm, hip-hip-hooray day!

The Bad, The Good, And The Childhood

Siiigh...

This has been a cah-razy week you guys. It's not even ThursDAY and I'm ready for the weekend. I wasted this past lovely weekend doing nothing but lazing around so I've been spending my nights and my mornings studying. Well, I just finished my last test tonight so now I've only got to write a paper and read a book for next week. Shucks.

A few things that have made today poopie:
  • I broke off the handle on one of my knives
  • I rushed to get my homework done
  • My boots (the nice winter-y ones) got mud all over them
  • I had to miss a meeting to study for my test (which I normally wouldn't do, but since there was a time limit on the test I couldn't afford to lose any study time)
A few things that have made today great:
  • Rugrats was on when I woke up
  • I listened to my Lion King Sing Along tape in the car
  • Wall-e was on while I was eating lunch
  • I've gotten so into wearing this one cocktail ring that it still feels like I'm wearing it even when I take it off (which wouldn't seem so great to some people, but I don't really wear rings so this is a fun thing for me)
So, today wasn't so bad. There were a few moments in there where I was not a happy camper. In comparison today was much better than Tuesday. That was hectic.

I'm off to dreamland. Maybe I'll get a chance to see Rugrats when I wake up! Childhood things just put me on a direct route to happiness. Have a great day tomorrow! (...which is today. Gosh it's late!)

Test Prep = Death

Save me.

I finished reading all I needed for a test I have this morning, but I wasn't able to get to the studying portion. So, I've gotten myself up at 5 a.m. to get started. My test is at 10:30, so that should be enough time, right? Oh, except that I didn't finish the other homework assignments I have due today as well.

Kill. me.

I have class from 10:30-6:10 and then I have a meeting I'm running from 8-10.

I'm dead.

Come on, Kt. Let's think positive. You got up and now you're going to start studying. You know this material pretty well. You just need to work on keeping it in your head so it can be used when you take the test. You've already had a bowl of cereal and you're up and raring to go so let's do this!

Sorry for not writing yesterday. I'm trying to fix my bad habits, but as you can see I have a lot on my plate this week. I'll be freaking out about another test tomorrow or something. Have a great day everyone! Wish me luck!

Valentine's Anyone?

Again with the sleeping and not posting! Oy, you drive me nuts!

Well, at least I was studying before I fell asleep, right?

In other news, it's Valentine's Day! I like the holiday even if I don't have anyone to spend it with. This year, like past years, I'm giving out those little Valentine's that kids pass out to their classmates in Elementary School. Yeah, I'm pretty awesome. Problem is that I meant to make them out before I fell asleep. Now I have Valentine's to write up, studying to do, ug. Chocolate poop on a stick (it's chocolate because it's Valentine's day).

I don't want to keep you guys too long - and I really need to get back to studying and getting ready for the day - so I will chat with you all later. I'm going to open some Valentine's from my mom and then take a shower. Have a great Valentine's Day!

Canada!!!! And The Enchanted Notebook

Oh my goodness.

Someone from Canada has read my Jerry Maguire post.

It was probably just an accident, but that is just so cool!!! I have wanted to visit Canada ever since I started watching Andrew Bravener's videos on YouTube. Canada just seems like an amazing, winter wonderland filled with amazing, wonderful people! I would especially like to visit Quebec. It would be awesome to see billboards in French, especially since I might understand what they were saying having taken four years of French in three years. (That's a whole other story by-the-way. To shorten it for you all, I pretty much tested too high when I got into college and ended up in a fourth year class instead of a third year class. Whoops! Thank goodness the T.A. was very helpful and understanding of my cowardice to speak up in class. Thanks, Stev!) Let me sing their anthem for you! Oh, Canada, the land I call my home! Genovi-whoops! I just mixed up the Canadian national anthem with the Genovia national anthem from the Princess Diaries. I bet I'm the only person that does that.

Well, besides that exciting news about Canada today wasn't very eventful. My morning was lazy, which really is a shame since I would have loved to get some homework, laundry, or shopping done. Eventually I left the house to get some credit for a class and then I went grocery shopping with a friend, but that is all I have done. Oh! I washed my make up brushes too. Man, that's pretty pathetic. So now I'm left watching The Notebook while I write this. It's the end too. So sad, but I love it. They are never apart - "I'll be seeing you".

Now I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it to stay up late and work on homework or to go to bed early and get a fresh start in the morning. Oh no, The Notebook is playing back to back. It's time to change the channel if I want to do either of those options. I've now swapped over to Enchanted - a pleasing movie in a much different way. My mom and I watched it at a second run movie theatre for her birthday years ago. After that we bought it on DVD as soon as possible. It's not the best movie ever, but it's very cute and it has a wonderful amount of trivia if you look into it. They use a lot of people from other Disney movies - Ariel, Pocahontas, Belle, some of the chimney sweepers from Mary Poppins - and there are tons of other Disney movie references throughout. Do you guys know some of the fun trivia of Enchanted? I bet my mom's got you beat!

Bahahaha! One of my favorite local commercials just came on. It's an ad for a car wash, but they show a brown dog going in the back of the truck and coming out tan. Very creative of them! It strikes my funny bone and reminds me of their business. This, actually, reminds me that I need to take my car in to get the oil changed...

Oh my gosh! I just noticed that they're playing Under The Sea in the waiting room of Robert's office. Oh, the great trivia of this movie! I really wanted to be a Disney princess for a while last year. It sounded like the perfect job! My love of Disney + my love of little kids = best. job. EVER! My friend that went grocery shopping with me brought that idea back into my mind this evening. Maybe I'll look into it again. I've heard that I'd be in the right height range, being pretty tall. Oh man, I will definitely be looking into that again!

Well, I'll probably have something to eat and then get ready for bed. I'm feeling very write-y tonight, but I don't want to wear you out. Have a great Sunday everyone! "I wish you every happiness".

Visiting My Relative's Love

I've gotten over the I'm-so-tired-I-could-just-fall-asleep hump so I decided I should post.

Today was a happy day! I got up feeling fairly peppy and was glad the weather changed to sunny by the time I left for class. When I finished class for the day I drove to my grandmas (without her expecting me) to drop of my Valentine's Day card and flowers (pale pink mums!) and to visit for a while. I love my grandma :D! She's so cute and she's over 90 years old! I think she was happy for the company, especially since we haven't had a chance to just talk in (honestly) years. It was so nice to just have some time to spend with her and to do my own thing while she was eating dinner.

Speaking of doing my own thing, while my grandma was eating I went out to get myself dinner as well as buy some shoes! I have a formal event coming up and I didn't have shoes to go with my dress. I took so long (typical) to find some shoes, especially since the lovely sales assistant told me that everything in the store was buy one get one half off! (Did you know that's what BOGO stands for? It took me so long to figure that out haha. I always thought, "That's a brand, so does that mean that only that brand is on sale? But, that brand doesn't have shoes, does it?") I ended up getting some semi-strappy, silver heels; some patent leather, black pumps (I didn't own any black heels!); some tiny, diamond stud-earrings; and a beautiful, silver ring (it looks like a flower, but has a butterfly in the middle! So cute!).  And the total was much cheaper than one pair of silver heels I saw at another store - go deals!

For dinner I snagged my favorite sandwich at a restaurant that isn't available in my college town - a chicken breast with cheddar cheese, bacon, and barbeque sauce = YUM! (If you haven't noticed, I have this thing for meat + cheese + bacon. I know it pretty much guarantees a heart attack, but it's so good! I promise I usually don't eat it twice in a week. More like once every 2-3 months and that's not so bad.) I'm not a fan of raw tomatoes or red onions so my grandma ate them. She said they were so good haha. (It's probably because they were covered in barbeque sauce.) Do any of you feel the same way as I do about tomatoes? I can't eat them raw, but cooked is delicious. Ketchup, tomato soup, pasta sauce, and pizza sauce are all fantastic, but a raw tomato in a salad or on a sandwich just equals disgusting to me.

Back to grandma! We had such a good time! She introduced me to the other people that live on her floor (she lives in a kind of retirement home) including another woman that's children went to school with my mom. She was so cute! My grandma said, "This is my granddaughter," and she said, "She must be a insert my grandma's last name," and held her hand over her head signaling my height. Bahahaha! I did get a lot of my height from my mom's side of the family - I have an uncle that's 6' 7"! - and that just cracked me up.

Well, grandma, I hope you had a good afternoon and evening hanging out with me! I think we had a good time just chatting and doing some little chores here and there. I hope the mum I brought you blooms and blooms!

I never met either of my grandpa's and my grandma on my dad's side past away while I was in high school (rest in peace, grandma). But I am thankful to have met her and to have my other grandma still be with me. She is such a trooper. Even though her body is giving out on her due to her age she never loses her wit. I love that she can recall very old stories about family members I have never met. It's wonderful to hear the crazy things my grandpa did. He loved to make my grandma mad for fun - never in a hurtful way, in a teasing way. Although I miss my grandparents that I never met or that have left this world I am happy to have their memories live on through my parent's stories and my memories. What about you guys? Are you left with few grandparents? No grandparents? All your grandparents? I wish I had met all of my grandparents, but I am more than happy to be told by my parents that they would have loved me if they met me.

Oh, silly me. I'm getting a little emotional over this. It's just such a blessing to have people that love you, even if they are no longer with you. I think love lives beyond a person's death. Thanks for the love, grandma, grandpa, and grandpa. I love you too.

Fat Week. Studious Weekend.

This week has been a bit of a fat week for me. Yesterday I was so confused on what I wanted to eat for dinner - Chinese, pork and beans, or a cheeseburger? I went with the cheeseburger. But no ordinary cheeseburger, a bacon cheeseburger. With blue cheese. SO. DELICIOUS. ...with fries. I don't usually get fries, honest! They aren't something I necessarily crave. I could go months and probably a year or two without eating fries. I wonder if I have and didn't notice...

After that lovely heart failure I decided to have dessert. I wasn't sure what dessert I wanted (do we see a pattern here?), so I went to the grocery store. Sounds like an odd choice, but they have a really nice bakery section. Well, it took me a while to decide if I wanted a walking sundae (which is pretty much just pieces of cake with icing, but it looks like a sundae) or cheesecake. I went with the walking sundae. But not a boring kind like chocolate or vanilla, nuh-uh. I grabbed pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting. It sounded so. good. Unfortunately, as I said in my last post I believe, I'm not so much a frosting person as a cake person, so I scraped off about half of the frosting. Don't get me wrong, cream cheese frosting is amazing, but not so amazing that I want to eat it by the tablespoons. Yuck.

Well, after feeling so lovely and, well, fat from that what did I decide to get myself tonight? I different variety of the walking sundae - German chocolate. I must admit, chocolate is very, VERY good. And German chocolate? I must quote my friend Alex: "Mmm, mmm, mm." So. yummy. Again, I had to scrape half of the icing off, but that's the price I pay.

So, I wasn't so bad, right? I scrapped the icing off! Well...I guess not all the icing. But who would scrape all the icing off?

Don't worry guys, I'm not super concerned about my weight or anything. I am concerned about my health - I don't want to be so out of shape that I get out of breath walking up the stairs or find myself having a heart attack at the age of 30 - but I'm not overly concerned. I'm a pretty healthy eater. I think I just treat myself a little more often than I should. I had a salad with pecans and dried cranberries, a 90 calorie chocolate chip and peanut butter granola bar, an apple, and an apple juice for lunch so I felt like treating myself wouldn't be so awful. I kind of wish I had gotten sushi for dinner though. It sounded so fantastic, but I would have wanted to go with my roommate (since she has never had the kind from this one place) who had just gotten out of the cold weather and wasn't so keen on going back into it. Oh well.

This weekend will be the study weekend. The get things done weekend. The please-focus-so-you-don't-want-to-kill-yourself-on-Monday-evening weekend. I have a lot of stuff coming up next week - tests, presentations, homework, you name it! I just hope that I can get myself in the study mood and keep it. I'm most productive then, but I'm not often feeling like that. Well, cheer me on!

How do you guys feel about your eating habits? What about your study habits? I bet you all are much better at studying than I am. I'm pretty easily distracted. For example, tonight my roommate was trying to get me to listen to something she was reading and I made a noise because something disturbing was on t.v. She said, "You have the attention span of a goldfish! That's 3 seconds!" haha. Thanks, rooomie. But, seriously guys, I can concentrate when I have to.

Goodnight everyone! I can't believe I wrote this much. I really had nothing to write about when I started - it just poured out. Have a wonderful weekend! Be safe, courteous, and cautious. And those of you in school send me your strongest studying vibes! I will need them.

Over Iced Dissection

When I was a kid I was more of a cake over icing eater. Pretty healthy, right? Well, although I've come to love icing, I still prefer to have more cake than icing.

That being said, I'm currently a tad sickened by the sight of leftover icing from the dessert I just ate. I bought it thinking that it looked fine, but really (holy smokes!) there was just too much icing.

I'm a salty snacker. Chips, pretzels, nuts, yum! I'd prefer to snack on that over cookies any day. Well, almost any day. Haha.

My roommates and I are currently watching Worst Cooks in America. As a woman was gutting her calamari, she pulled a sardine out of it! It reminded me of seventh grade when we dissected frogs. My dissection group found out very quickly that our frog was a girl frog. After a few incisions we found her insides to be full of eggs! Pretty nasty, but I suppose that's the circle of life.

Did anyone else do that 7th grade frog dissection project? In our group we had two girls and two boys. Hilariously enough, the girls were the one taking charge and cutting things while the guys were too squeamish to do much of anything. Did this happen to any of you?

Well, once Worst Cooks in America is over I'll probably fall asleep. So goodnight everyone! Have a dissection free day!

Insecure Freebies, Fancy Child Food, And Surprising Old People

I have this new attitude (which started with the blog, actually) where I don't just put things off because I'm scared of them. Well, I had the chance to get something for free online so I took the offer (it was a trusted website. At least, I think it's a trusted website). I hate when they ask you to sign up for an account to get something free. I know that has to happen, but they even needed my billing address. Um, excuse me? Wasn't I getting this for free? I'm pretty sure I did get it for free, but I'm slightly worried. I hate that!

Tonight my roommate and I made the Kraft Mac & Cheese that comes in a bag. You know the kind. The one that's advertised on the commercial with the girl saying, "It's Mac & Cheese for grown ups. What happened to Cheesasaurus Rex? I love that guy!" It was pretty good. Especially since we put it in the oven with some shredded cheese on top. Heart attack? Maybe. Delicious? Yes!

I'm thinking of surprising my grandma over the weekend by bringing her a Valentine's day card and some flowers. I'll have to check with other family members when a good time would be to go, but it would be a nice gesture. I love my grandma and although I'm fairly close to her I don't get to see her all that often - usually just when my mom visits me. I should make the effort so I will try to make it a goal for the weekend. As well as study for two tests and work on a presentation all on Tuesday...

I'm going to try to get ahead on homework due next week so I can devote more time to studying for my tests. Great idea. I wonder if it'll happen. I sure hope it does!

Off to finish getting ready for bed and reading for class until I fall asleep. Good luck with tomorrow everyone!

Creative Lunch, Clothing Indecision, And The Opposite Of The Silver Boys

So...that whole, "I will write to you tomorrow" business... Well, I'm writing to you in the morning. I hope that makes up for it!

Eating my breakfast reminds me of what I made myself for lunch yesterday. I'm no cook, but I was feeling pretty creative yesterday. I boiled some wheat spaghetti, browned a link of turkey sausage in a pan, added zucchini and pasta sauce to that pan to heat it up, combined them all together, and voila! Very yummy. I recommend it to all of you meat eaters out there that love Italian food.

I didn't finish my homework last night, so I need to get ready fairly quickly so I have some extra time to get it done. I hope I can pick an outfit pretty quickly. I hate it when I can't decide on what to wear. I could stand in front of my closet for an hour and have no clue what I should put on. Well, I have to wear something warm today, since it's supposed to be -30 in the morning. Yay!...

Any of you out there watch the Golden Girls? I had never watched it before this year, but now I'm kind of hooked! If it's on when nothing else is I will turn it on and bask in its cuteness. I didn't think it would be a good show - it's a bunch of older women that live together - but it's incredibly funny!

Okay, I'm almost done with my banana. I'll finish up my breakfast and get ready for the day! Have a great day everyone! I will try not to be absent minded about writing in this again.

Let's Recap That

Oh gosh, guys! I'm so sorry for (again) making you wait! Of course, last night I got so darn tired that I fell asleep before writing. Let me recap yesterday and today for you!

Yesterday was the fashion show. I woke up early to go to my 8:45 hair appointment and ended up getting there about 5 minutes early (which is a pretty big accomplishment for me as I tend to be a bit late to things. When I need to be somewhere on time I will try my hardest). The other girls that were getting their hair done in the same time slot as mine got stuck in traffic, but ended up practically early for the appointment since the stylists were still working on some other girl's hair. (By the way, this was completely a volunteer thing. I was not paid to do it - it was just something I was more than willing to do!) After I got my hair done - which ended up quite pretty - I got my fingernails painted with a clear coat and headed to the venue to get my make-up done. I've never used Mary Kay make-up, but that's what was used on all of us. It turned out really well, except for the fact that my foundation was a good two to three shades darker than my normal skin tone. Whoops! It looked like a decent match in the dark bathroom where they were doing our make-up.

We had some down time between getting everything done - hair, nails, and make-up - so I went home, ate lunch, grabbed my roommate, picked up my friend, started driving, called a girl at the venue to tell her I forgot my shoes, drove back to my place, grabbed my shoes, and then got to the venue. I was a bit later than the call time (which was noon), but we weren't being asked to do much of anything until 1:15 so it was all good. The runway show itself was interesting. It was fun, but most of us had dresses that were a little bit too big so we were trying to focus on not letting the dresses slip on us while we walked. I decided to use the hands-on-my-hips method to keep my dresses from moving anywhere they shouldn't.

Although I got myself all decked out for this show and I got to walk the runway I think my favorite part of the day was going to eat with my roommate and my friend right after the show. They were hungry (I had picked them up around 11:30, so they probably didn't have lunch) so we stopped somewhere on our way back. It ended up being such a good time! My two friends (my roommate and my other friend) aren't very talkative, but they ended up getting pretty comfortable with each other and we had a blast just gabbing about things. I miss having days where you spend hours just talking with your friends. I may end up feeling a little guilty later considering I almost always have work to be doing, but it's important to have that social part of my life at least somewhat active. I'll take what I can get.

After I dropped my friend off my roommate and I returned Inception (my roommate had never seen it before and loved it. Huge recommendation here.) and then went to the grocery store for our weekly run and also to get some supplies to make our own pizzas! My roommate is vegetarian with a vegan interest (she did not skip on the cheese tonight, but she's been trying a bunch of different recipes. She has her own blog too!: http://thekeavybeeproject.blogspot.com/) so the only extra thing she wanted on her pizza was broccoli. I was up for that too, but I decided to add some turkey sausage (they didn't have turkey pepperoni, those poops) and some zucchini. Friends, this ended up being an AMAZING pizza. Holy fish on a stick! I'd forgotten how much better homemade (even if the dough comes pre packaged) pizzas are than frozen. I need to remember this so I don't waste money on junky frozen pizzas thinking they'll be wonderful. I encourage you all to go out there and buy some pizza mixes or make your own. So much fun and it ends up delicious!

We concluded our night eating pizzas, drinking wine, having a few Valentine's inspired Hershey Kisses (mine were the cordial cherries and hers were the hugs and kisses), and watching Twilight. That movie I don't so much recommend. But I read the books (don't bash me! I honestly was interested in them a long time ago and I'm not saying this to make myself sound any better. It's fact. My roommate was reading them, back in the day, and the idea of it interested me so she bought me Twilight for my birthday. No one at the party knew what in the world it was! haha) so it's fun to watch the horrible acting. Anyone else feel that way? I think most people do.

Today was a mish mosh of things. I had a meeting at 1 p.m. (there was one amazing thing that happened at this meeting. We were all placed very close to a window and we saw a huge hawk land on the closest tree. It was awe inspiring!) and another meeting from 2:30-4 p.m. and then I spent the rest of the day picking up my friend (same one from yesterday) so we could all hang out and watch the Superbowl. We're all into football (myself probably a bit less than the two of them), but we all agreed that we were mainly watching the Superbowl for the commercials. There were a few funny ones that I missed because I had to take a restroom break so I hope I'm able to find them online later. They'll turn up somewhere or other on the interwebs.

Well everyone, that was pretty much what I had to say today. I'm so sorry again for making you wait! I've gotten into some bad habits the past few days (not writing this blog and falling asleep before washing my face or even changing. Oh, Kt.), but I hope to put them to rest. I will write to you guys tomorrow! Have a wonderful, non-bad habits day!

Oh [Blog], How I've Neglected You...

To quote my great grandmother's diary, "Oh [blog], how I've neglected you." I'm so very sorry for that. To be honest, I've just been falling asleep without writing. I had some eventful days too! I must make up for it.

The last post I wrote I was wishing for a snow day. Well... Snowpocalypse hit my school pretty hard and classes were canceled! You have to clue how high I jumped in the air, how many little dances I did, or how many little ditties of "There's no school today" I sang. It was pretty much amazing. The conditions were pretty awful. Even though it was a snow day my roommates and I drove to a laundromat (I was completely out of clothes. Well, the essentials at least). The roads.. I can't even describe. They still have yet to clear all of the snow from parking meters/the sides of the street. And those banks are a good 7 to 8 feet tall! Well, driving to the laundromat ended up okay, but getting back was difficult. I got stuck trying to get into my garage! Thankfully another tenant helped us push my car in. We baked him red velvet cupcakes for his efforts. Thanks again, dude!

While we were out and about we decided to rent Eat, Pray, Love. None of us had seen it, so we were pretty excited. My thoughts on the movie: it was a great concept, but not a great movie. I'm not saying you shouldn't see it. (I have this thing with movies where, even if I hear it's bad I still want to see it for myself.) It was a great idea and now that I've seen the movie I definitely need to read the book. I just think that the ending moved a little quickly and a little strangely for my taste. It could have been due to the fact that I was taking time during the movie to look up on my computer where Bali was located (those of you out there that are laughing at me, tell me where Bali is off the top of your head! Geography is not the best subject now, is it?). Still, great concept. Not great movie. In my opinion, of course.

I didn't get a lot done during my snow day, but yesterday was decently eventful. I ended up driving to class, something I would rather not have to do as I have to pay for parking, but my roommate waited for a bus for over 20 minutes and missed her class! (Fortunately, when she got back to the apartment she found out that her class had been canceled.) I slipped a little bit while driving - as I said, the roads were awful! - but I was much better off than the car in front of my that spun out because she was driving much too fast on snow. Ah! That was scary. Throughout the day snow seemed to conquer me as well. Mainly I feel on my bum while walking from one class to another. I was trying to walk through a tiny path that was made by other people's footprints and the dirty snow on top made it slippery so I lost my balance and fell, right. on. my. butt. Honestly, I laughed at myself. It was pretty fun! I miss rolling around in the snow like I did when I was a kid, so just falling in it was a good time. I brushed as much as I could off myself so I didn't look like an idiot, but I think we all looked pretty crazy trying not to slip under the conditions.

Tomorrow I'm doing something pretty cool. Are you ready to hear what it is? I can't hear you. Ready?

Okay, okay! You don't have to...be silent. I'm walking in a fashion show! Pretty awesome, right?! Well, one girl from an organization I'm in is in another organization that walks for this fashion show every year and said that they needed some more volunteers. I jumped at the opportunity - I mean, who wouldn't want to walk in a fashion show?!? The only downside right now is that I have a hair appointment at 8:45 a.m., I'm not really a morning person, and I don't quite know where the salon is located. Well, we'll see how it goes!

Well, have a great day tomorrow everyone! If you were struck by snomg please be careful! I'll write to you tomorrow and tell you as much as possible about the fashion show! Goodnight!

P.S. I want to thank those of you that checked back or have started to read my blog. I can't believe I've had some page views within the past couple of days even though I haven't posted anything new. Thanks for sticking with me or reading this at all!

P.P.S. I don't think blogger has ever published my posts in Georgia font! What a poop. I guess I'll have to live with Times Roman. D:

A Snowball Of Thoughts

So I think I've finally moved into my apartment. It's been months, I know!, but I haven't had time (as I've said before) to put everything away. I'd still like to put up a few pictures and such, but besides that I'm pretty good to go! It looks so clean even though I didn't vacuum.

This surge of my-room-needs-to-be-organized-ness came from a canceled class. Awesome, right?!? I even lit some candles and listened to music as I worked. I'm not a candle person, but both of my roommates burn them so I've tried and realized that I love them too! Especially the really fragrant ones. The first candle I bought for my room was an oil candle and I never really smelled the fragrance. That was disappointing.

I'm hoping my canceled class tonight leads to canceled classes tomorrow. The weather is terrible right now. I've been looking out my window to see three snow plows follow each other while the snow is flying almost parallel to the ground because the wind is so forceful. Having class or not having class tomorrow really doesn't make a huge difference. I'm pretty good with what I have going on tomorrow. I just wouldn't mind a snow day, you know? So I'm wearing my pajamas inside out. I'm prepared. Bring it on!

I feel the tiniest bad on bashing men a few posts ago. Men aren't that bad. I've noticed since that post that men really are some of our great minds. They just like beer and naked people as well as their chess. That's okay. I like my shoes and dresses as much as my books.

I wish I had time to read for leisure. I was reading this great book All You Need to be Impossibly French by Helena Frith Powel before school started up again. It's a great book and I truly recommend it! It's a quick read too which makes it even better! Unfortunately, I have to read all my school related articles and books before this one. Well, poop. Maybe I'll read a bit of it tonight.

Do a lot of you use bookmarks? I often use scratch pieces of paper or even the receipt that came with the book as the bookmark. Sometimes I just memorize the page number I'm on and hope I remember it when I come back to it. Usually I get close and end up reading a couple of pages behind the actual page I was on, but, hey, there's no problem with refreshing your memory! As I was cleaning my room today I found magnetic bookmarks I got for my last birthday. They're really cute too - they've got pretty, little paintings of flowers on them with glitter detail. Very much for the nature lover (which I am, but I'm not. Another topic to discuss another time). Anyways, these come in handy more than I thought they would! I'm currently using one with pink flowers to hold the pages in my planner so I don't have to rifle through the whole things trying to figure out where I am. Fantastic!

I hope those of you out there that are experiencing the same weather we have here are being safe and cautious. Please drive carefully. As a choir director once told me, "There is nothing that you have to rush home for" and, really, there isn't when it can cost you your life. Just set up your TV to record The Office and you can watch it when you get home, safe and sound. Be smart and happy (hopeful) snow days!
